Advancing the Mission of Sacred Heart School

Fostering the growth of children and young people – spiritually, intellectually, physically, and socially – requires stewardship of human and financial resources.  By employing the best educators and seeking funds to sustain the mission, Sacred Heart School can ensure that future generations of students will be able to learn and grow in an environment where they are respected and nurtured as unique, gifted individuals.

Support for Sacred Heart School comes from a number of programs, events, and activities. To make a contribution or participate, please contact Cheryle Bartolo via phone at 603.926.3254 or via email at cbartolo@shshampton.org.  You can also contact her via mail at the school's address.

Parent Partnership

Each year, parents are asked to make Sacred Heart School the “charity of choice” by making a tax-deductible contribution.  While all contributions from parents are welcome and deeply appreciated, the amount suggested is the difference between the actual cost of educating a child at Sacred Heart School and the tuition that parents are asked to pay.   This amount constitutes a significant donation and offers parents a way to continue investing in their children’s education beyond what is required in tuition.

Annual Giving

Individuals who are associated with Sacred Heart School or with Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Parish are asked to consider an annual donation to support educational excellence at Sacred Heart School.  These cash donations are used at present to support all educational services offered by SHS, from science experiments and art supplies to field day equipment and library resources.

Annual $10,000 Sweepstakes

Only 299 tickets are sold for this event, and one ticket is auctioned off the evening of the Sweepstakes.  The $150 price of each ticket includes a gala dinner for two at Ashworth-by-the-Sea and an evening of fun and suspense as the elimination drawing winds down to the big winner.  Consolation prizes and a premium auction for sports tickets and vacations add to the festivities.  Businesses and corporations contribute toward sponsorship of the event.

Annual Benefit Auction

Reaching out to the wider community, volunteers solicit items for bid in both live and silent auctions.  Gift certificates and premium prizes are offered in a variety of raffles.  The $25 price of each ticket includes admission to the auction and a full buffet dinner.  Businesses, corporations, and individuals contribute toward sponsorship of the event.

Tribute Fund

Donations to Sacred Heart School may be made in honor or in memory of loved ones.

A donation made in honor of an individual or group is recorded in the Book of Tribute.  The donor is acknowledged and the honoree is sent a special certificate noting the reason for the tribute and the name of the individual making the gift.  The donor and honoree are remembered in school liturgies and prayers.

A donation made in memory of an individual is recorded in the Book of Tribute.  The donor is acknowledged and the family of the departed individual is sent a special sympathy card on behalf of the donor.   The donor, family, and departed are remembered in school liturgies and prayers.

Legacies and Bequests

Donors may wish to name Sacred Heart School as a beneficiary in a will or trust.

For a one-time bequest, we recommend that the bequest be unrestricted; however, if you prefer to designate your bequest, we recommend that it be designated to fund the area of greatest need as determined by the principal of Sacred Heart School and the pastor of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Parish.  The reason for this designation is that the needs of the school change from year to year.  If the bequest is restricted, and if the restriction cannot be carried out, Sacred Heart School might not be able to accept the donation.

For a legacy that includes annual or quarterly income for Sacred Heart School, we ask that the legacy income be unrestricted; however, if you prefer to designate the use of the income, we recommend that it be designated to fund the area of greatest need as determined by the principal of Sacred Heart School and the pastor of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Parish.  The reason for this designation is that the needs of the school change from year to year.  If the legacy income is restricted, and if the restriction cannot be carried out, Sacred Heart School might not be able to accept the donation.

Planned Gifts

If you wish to make a donation to Sacred Heart School that gives you the opportunity to enjoy an annuity, that provides your heirs with a tax advantage, and that provides the Sacred Heart School with income, speak to your financial planner about a planned gift to the school.  Charitable Annuity Trusts or Charitable Remainder Trusts can benefit you, your heirs, and the school.  Please be certain to check carefully with your financial planner because planned gifts involve both benefits and risks.
