Sacred Heart School Parent Guild

Every parent or
guardian of a Sacred Heart School student is a member of the Parent
Guild.
The purpose of the
Parent Guild is:
- to support Sacred Heart School through
donations of our time, talent, and treasure;
- to promote the spirit of community among
parents and families through social, spiritual, and enrichment
activities;
- to create a venue for open communications
among Sacred Heart School families;
- to foster a spirit of Catholicism within our
Sacred Heart Family.
Your participation and
perspective are welcome. Both meeting dates and meeting minutes will be
posted in News Notes. You may serve as an officer or volunteer on one
or more of the committees described in the Bylaws.

Whatever your
availability or time constraints, there are ample opportunities to be
involved with your child at Sacred Heart School. SHS believes that
parents are collaborators in educating children and welcomes parental
participation in the life of the school as their time and circumstances
permit. SHS provides parents with an opportunity to enjoy their
children at school during their formative years. And children have an
opportunity to see Mom and Dad at school. For example:
- In the early grades, “room parents” help with
classroom activities and special classroom events.
- Many parents work together to make the
Father-Daughter Dance an annual success.
- The SHS Hot Lunch Program relies on the
generosity of parents who can help from about 11:00 to 1:00 on the
days and times most convenient for them.
- The Ski Club parents can enjoy participating
with their children in the club’s annual ski weekends.
- Parents have an opportunity to chaperone their
sixth-grade children for a week of learning how to interact
positively with their classmates and adults.
- Sargent Camp is often listed by graduates as
one of the most important bonding experiences of their elementary
school days.
- The Rock-a-thon is a special SHS school spirit
activity that involves parents in a variety of roles from face
painters to lunch servers to clowns and more!
- On Field Day, parents join their children by
moderating races, supervising games, helping with lunch, and
sometimes just being a supportive audience.
- Parents are welcome to support the SHS
athletic teams by their presence and by helping in the Sports
Kitchen to sell healthful snacks and refreshments during the games.
- Parents of Junior High students can watch
their children’s social development while they chaperone dances
organized by the Student Council.
