Sacred Heart School Parents Say

A Message from Maureen Cocchiaro
Interim Principal
Sacred Heart School

Your visit to the Sacred Heart School website tells me that you are interested in finding the best educational match for your child. I am thrilled that you are taking a closer look at SHS and all that we have to offer children and young people.

You have my personal invitation to see our school in action. Please call 603.926.3254 or send an e-mail to set up a visit. We will be delighted to give you a personal tour.

SHS serves students from Hampton, NH and 28 additional towns in the New Hampshire Seacoast area, the Massachusetts North Shore, and Southwestern Maine. We are ideally situated at the intersection of Routes 1, 95, and 101 – a real help for commuter parents. In addition, SHS provides before-school care beginning at 7:00 a.m. and after-school care until 6:00 p.m. to accommodate parents’ schedules.

Our Mission as a Catholic School in the Diocese of Manchester, New Hampshire, is to educate the whole child by fostering each student’s spiritual, intellectual, physical, and social growth. In our warm and nurturing learning environment, we encourage students to develop their God-given gifts and talents to the full.

We are proud that our academic curriculum and teaching methods merit accreditation from the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC). In addition, SHS meets all requirements of the New Hampshire State Board of Education and of School Administrative Unit 21 (SAU 21) for our students in Pre-kindergarten through Grade 8.

To enhance the subject matter of our curriculum, we integrate those processes of learning that equip students to master skill sets that will ensure their success in the even more complex world of the future. Our emphasis is on challenging the enthusiastic learner and supporting the reluctant learner.

Our co-curricular activities encourage both team efforts and community service. Junior high students in Grades 6 through 8 are involved in student government and in planning and carrying out events that complement their studies. Among an array of service projects, they organize efforts for Hampton Beach clean-up activities, for school beautification, and for support of Patient Services.

In addition to our physical education program, students in Grades 6 through 8 are encouraged to participate in our comprehensive team sports program that includes soccer, basketball, softball, baseball, cross-country and track. Student athletes are held to standards that prepare them for the rigors of high school and college athletics.

The SHS faculty and staff are professional, certified, and dedicated to teaching within the framework of the Catholic Faith. We view parents as the primary educators of their children, and we seek to work in partnership with them to provide the best educational experiences for their children. Parents are encouraged to become involved with the education of their children by volunteering their special talents to complement the work of the teachers.

As the school of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Parish, SHS is blessed to have priests, religious, and parishioners who take an active interest in supporting our students and our school.

Please make an appointment by phoning 603.926.3254 or by sending an e-mail to let us know you’re considering SHS for your child. We will be pleased to respond to your questions and set up a tour.

I look forward to welcoming you in person.
